Death Keeps no Calender

The last few days have been no less than mindboggling. I was made aware alongwith thousands of others that our time is limited on this earth and that the most that we can do is living like as if there is no tomorrow. Living like we can to the best of our abilities. Its easier said than done.In my case it calls for a paradigm shift in my outlook towards life.
We almost forget that life is the greatest gift till it is taken away from us.
Steve Jobs, was one such person who knew that his end was imminent and defined death as the greatest invention of life. His though provoking speech in front of Stanford Grads is one of the most powerful insights into life and its best invention-death.A profound thought indeed.
The same day we lost Steve, we also lost a person by the name of Graham Dilley-a lesser known cricketer, who was perhaps not as gifted as the great Steve. But still we, as cricket enthusiasts, the sight of him and Botham hammering Lillee and Thomson in the Ashes series is still fresh. Dilley was primarily a fast bowler but his death defying innings with Botham tells us one thing-we all have talents and powers far beyond our own comprehension. We fail to utilise every ounce of our abilities and go to our graves still with alonging to fulfill and achieve more.
Finally we come to a man who signlehandedly changed the landscape of Ghazal singing in the world. The man blessed with a deep baritone and a wonderful voice quality that serenaded the puritans as well as the novices of Ghazal and Geet singing.Who can forget "Hothon se chhu lo tum" and "Yeh Tera Ghar Ye Mera Ghar" or "Baat niklegi toh phir door talak jayegi".The man lived through the crippling grief of the death of his 18 year old son and subsequent loss of voice of his wife Chitra Singh to give us pure magic in the form of great poignant numbers.
It is an apt reminder that in this fast paced life everything is transient. We are here only but for a very small time period. Its upto us to find our tue calling, leave our marks on the sands of time and bid adeu when we have to.
I have assigned myself with the task of finding my true calling and making the best of the time that is with me.Its the toughest project that I have embarked upon. I wish to be successful in it as it is the most important undertaking of my life.
